University Publications
University Publications plays a crucial role in defining the University's image to the public and ensuring graphic and editorial standards that contribute positively to the institution's reputation. The department is responsible for setting and maintaining visual and editorial standards for all University printed and electronic communications. The department's also responsible for the quality of all University promotional publications. University Publications works with all colleges and campuses of the University to produce integrated marketing materials that reflect the University's strategic communications objectives. It works with Enrollment Management and University Development to create and produce lead recruitment and fundraising materials, and with University Marketing on major advertising campaigns that raise awareness of the institution. The services of Publications are available cost free to all University units.
All student recruitment, fundraising, and major image publications of the University are created by the Department of University Publications, where they are edited, designed, and produced -- and in certain cases, written. The department monitors the quality of other University publications through critiques and training sessions and by setting and maintaining a consistent editorial style and visual identity. Department staff are available for consultation in assessing publication and promotional needs.
As part of the division of University Relations, University Publications is responsible for administering Administrative Policy AD61: University Communications through Advertising, Publication, and Media Relations. University Publications also serves as an advising center for any person or department that has questions or needs assistance with any matters pertaining to graphic identity, visual and editorial standards, or print and Web guidelines. It advises the University's licensing program on the appropriate use of our registered marks and symbols by external agencies. The department also works with the Office of Physical Plant to ensure consistent University sign standards.
